We’re so excited to start receiving entries to this year’s SOLVE New Talent Search, brought to you by ELLE Decoration and Weylandts. This year’s SOLVE is particularly exciting, as the floor is open to aspiring and amateur designers, not just design students. Read the uploadable PDF for more rules about entering and eligibility, as well as a detailed competition brief.
The challenge this time around is to come up with a standing lamp that provides indirect, ambient light, yet can brighten up a room. Enduring aesthetics vs fashionable trendiness are key, and preference will be given to lamps that accommodate eco-friendly CFLs.
The winning design will be manufacturered and sold in Weylands on a royalties basis, and the winner will be winging their way to 100% Design in London too. Entries close on 31 July 2009, so get designing!

Judging is happening on 1 September and winners anounced in the next issue of Elle decor.
