Report from NYC: To market, to market

This weekend, the Makers Market introduced me to a few designers in the New York City area, and further afield, whose work I was not familiar with.

The market, held in Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, Queens blew in a breath of fresh air – as well as a thunderstorm like no other – with its selection of hand-made or small-run designs curated by a team that included Doug DeNicola of the Noguchi Museum; Evan Snyderman, principal of the design gallery R 20th Century; and Andrew Wagner, the editor of ReadyMade. From robust handbuilt motorcycles, to delicate jewellery in gold and silver, the range of design was of a consistently high standard.

These are some of the things I saw at the Makers Market.
