Loving Patricia Urquiola’s hanging ‘Cocoon’ chair made from polymer thread, made for Moroso as part of her Tropicalia collection.

There’s something so distinctly South African about the way this chair looks, if you ask me, but can only find something vague about Urquiola being inspired by her Spanish heritage for this work. Still, the Moroso website’s front page has an image of African artisans making things, and the word l’Afrique, so I’m intrigued to find out more. If anyone has clues to share, I’d be most grateful.

I love Patricia Urquiola. I spent last week posting about her! And that chair is amazing. I have a post in the works (that may never get finished) about M’ Afrique Moroso installation. This hanging chair is not a part of that but she did design a bench for the M’ Afrique show.
Yatzer did a great job explaining more. http://www.yatzer.com/1745_m’afrique_by_moroso and here’s the pdf download of the original press release about the show and the colloboration. http://download.morosousa.com/public/parser_download/save/salone_2009.mafrique.eng.pdf
