The home on the cover of the brand new issue of ELLE Decoration appears on pages 66-75 of the magazine. It belongs to former lawyer, Louise Scholtz, who tranformed her career and home all at once. Now working as a sustainable consultant, Louise changed her sweet but deteriorating 1950′s house into a spacious, light-filled space, sporting loads of “green” features.

Instead of adding another bedrom in the house’s redesign, Louise opted to keep a bigger garden.

The spacious entrance hall is a key feature, which Louise typifies as a “breathing pause, a space in which to collect yourself before entering the house proper”.

Clever storage boxes on wheels make the most of space under floating cupboards in the kitchen.

The gold-leafed wall in the bathroom is a glamorous and decadent touch, contrasting with the clean, modern lines of the bathroom fittings.
