In between sutures and C-sections, she took a visit to an old treasure in Durban called Colombo Fine Beverage Co. Take it away, Casey!
Previously known as Colombo Tea and Coffee Co, this 93 year old institution nestled in the gritty Gale Street factory sector, has undergone an image and facility upgrade. Current 4th generation owner Victor Richardson approached a band of young, enthusiastic coffee aficionados to rebrand the company and reposition them as a speciality beverage company, now known as Colombo Fine Beverage Co. Aided by branding agency the The Hardy Boys, these fellas have three years of hard graft under their belts.
The lofty factory, with original roasters and machinery still intact and in use, is an awe-inspiring venue and site of superb coffee offerings. Not only can one sample and purchase and stellar variety of beans and grinds, but budding baristas can learn the art of conjuring up a supreme cuppa at one of their slick training sessions.
