Eat Your Heart Out

A few weeks ago Elle Decoration attended Eat Your Heart Out, a food jam organised by young-one-to-watch Jade De Waal. ‘After too many spaghetti bolognese days at res, Eat your Heart Out was born to show people there’s still life in a tin of tuna, and so many other basics’, says Jade. ‘For EYHO I invite people to prepare and eat selected recipes, drink wine, be merry and meet people.’

Jade invited DECO’s Charl Edwards to cook up a storm with 11 other strangers. ‘We all pitched up, everyone clearly a little bit nervous, and were thrown into groups and given recipes to cook from. We soon got into it. The wine helped. A lot. I don’t think I actually cooked at all. I made comments and looked on!’ Here’s more from the night…

    I’ve been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of Jade’s passion for food. There’s nothing of the ‘chef’ about Jade – she is one serious foodie and honest to goodness cook – loving food in all its glory but without any of its pretentions to grandeur. And she has a superb cookbook to match which we use often…She is a talent to watch.
