Instant Grass gets an update

STEP 1: THE MOODBOARD

ELLE DECO guest blogger, designer Jaco Janse van Rensburg talked us through some of his recent interior projects, suggesting a few easy, fun ideas to try in your own place – either at home or work.

“I have recently completed the interiors for Instant Grass in Cape Town – a very hip agency. The brief was to create a cool space for ‘all the young dudes.’ This moodboard was the start of the project. I find it really helps me to focus and gets the client to visualise the proposed end result.”

“Here are a few details and ideas from the interior that you can try at home. I created instant art on the walls with duct tape which kicks out nicely against gritty black walls in Earthcote Windswept. I used 36 red paper lanterns in different sizes as an installation above the studio space and sourced odd bits like the two-headed dinosaur from a discount toy store in downtown Cape Town.”

“Umbrellas created a fun reception installation and the jar is always filled with sweets. Another toy used as art in the meeting room. The coffee table was a great find from Mr. Price.”
