Deco WIN: Be a Hunter gatherer. These boots were made for winning.

On Mud Island, one would need a pair of Hunter boots for walking one’s corgis, for sloshing about in muddy fields and for hotfooting it down Oxford Street in the rain.

And what if one were to win a pair? Well, that would brighten one’s winter’s day, wouldn’t it?

In South Africa, the cold fronts and snowstorms we’ve been dished up lately have made us all feel the need to hurry up and jump into our Hunters, if we haven’t already done so.

ELLE DECORATION has one pair of these cool English Wellies ready to be snapped up.

To win them, show us what you love most about Englishness or what you think is extra-great about Great Britain. (Interiors, design, places, spaces. Kinda thing.)

These are some of our faves. Now let’s see yours. (Scroll down for full details.)

I live in Wellington in the Boland, and Welly boots are a normality here in this town seeing as it is a farming community! I have always felt that I wouldn’t wear welly’s don’t want to look to common. But if I had a pair of Hunter boots they are not the typical gum boot Pt brook look and would wear them proudly. For me, its the way the English like to use contrasting colours on the walls and their furniture (sometimes vs one another). I am also a huge fan of their use of ‘modern’ and ‘old’ typical English styles such as antique themed wall paper and then placing a bold rug on the floor.

my favourite british thing? oh, my, there are faaar too many but i’ve got to say that I have the biggest appreciation for Mary Quant right now and her fabulous invention of the mini skirt (and all this from a lady living in permanently chilly conditions :) . And her bold patterns are absolutely to die for.

(will post mini skirt picture asap to fb)

  15. For me the town of Bath sums up the quintessential English feel and many famous people have agreed. The town is great in so many ways, the architecture, the tourist attractions and the general way of life of the locals. Mostly though, it’s the surrounding villages of Somerset with hedgerows and barn conversions and resident homeopaths that take you on herb walks through the fields and not to forget the village geese.

  16. …..ahhhh these booots ARE MADE FOR WALKING and thats just what they doo…

Englishness for me: Daphne Guinness – Epitome of British style and fashion. She was Alexander McQueen’s best friend having worn some of his unforgettable and often outlandish gowns. She is a socialite, heiress and above most for me, a style icon. I haven’t seen anyone in this generation who does haute couture like her. Lady Gaga often refers to her as her style inspiration. However unlike Gaga and like a true Brit, Daphne wears couture with class, elegance and sophistication.
