Have you heard about the 12 Rooms Exhibition with Leon at CCXIX? Basically, 12 of SA’s top decorators and designers have been unleashed on a room in the Leon at CCXIX showroom to see what they’d come up with… that’s 12 designers to embolden and embellish 12 rooms.

Word is the transformations will astound even the most hardcore decoristas. From a mad botanists conservatory, a swanky hotel cocktail lounge to a boudoir to-die-for, a dining room dripping in yellow and gold and a majestic yet modern Xhosa inspired living space, there will be more than just a little something for everyone. Then there’s the secret 13’th room which remains hush-hush!

It opens tonight with a VIP (invite-only) event  where about 500 of the countries leading designers, decorators, their fans, their nemeses, Cape Town’s glitterati and industry stalwarts will enjoy cocktails, local methode cap classique and food by the Kitchen at Leon.

The exhibition will then be open to the public from the beginning of June until the end of August 2014.

We have been granted privileged access over the last few days, and without giving too much away, want to share a few clues of what you can look forward to.

Leon at CCXIX is renowned for crafting the finest furniture – their specialty being upholstery pieces – working with an array of SA’s top decorators and retailers. They are also keen advocates of homegrown talent so whilst the world gazes upon Cape Town as World Design Capital for 2014, Leon at CCXIX want to show the world just how hot South African talent is.

“A few months ago we came up with the concept of 12 Rooms but had no idea we’d run with it or that it would turn into the wonderful project it’s become. It’s been a privilege to work with designers who are pushing boundaries. It’s been an exciting challenge but one that’s been richly rewarding for the whole Leon at CCXIX team.”

– Rob van Veen (part-owner of the Leon at CCXIX showroom and furniture workshop)

“As the world looks on Cape Town as host of World Design Capital for 2014, everyone is intrigued about what makes SA design tick. We felt the 12 Rooms Exhibition would create the ideal opportunity for some of our countries top decorators and designers to create their dream space without any limitations. With Hertex, Home Fabrics and Black Fabrics sponsoring all the latest fabrics and wallpaper the designers truly have had free reign. The resulting room sets show this freedom of expression spectacularly.”

  • What a great launch event! Thank you Cape Town for your support.
A big thank you to our great sponsors for the evening Mediterranean Delicacies, BOS Ice Tea, Genevieve MCC, Zonnebloem Wines, Jim Beam Bourbon and Russian Standard Vodka.
Also without fabrics and wallpapers by Black Fabrics, Hertex and Home Fabrics 12 Rooms would not have happened at all!
Amazing to see local design talent at its best.
