DECO Desirable: Millet Stalk Food Covers from Melissa’s

We’ve just sourced these wonderful Millet Stalk Food Covers at Melissa’s The Food Shop. Perfect for summer dining, outdoor lunches and picnics, they also make for quick-easy hanging decorations (See our DECO IDEA below). We’re giving away two of these covers to two lucky DECO readers.

Beautiful and practical, these food covers are produced in neighbouring African countries, and are made of millet stalks. (The stalks are the “leftovers” of the harvested grain.) They retail for R198 each. Melissa’s also stocks these beautiful enamel plates (below) for R14,95 each, the perfect picnic item for summer.

DECO IDEA Group four (or more) of these food covers together using a piece of string and tie to a tree above an outside dining area. It’s a fun and very easy outdoor decoration for the festive season, and looks even more impressive swaying in the wind. We’ve attached ours to a tree outside our offices…

To win this food cover, tweet about this blog post (using @ELLE_Deco and @melissas_za in your tweet), and tell us what favourite summer dish you’ll be covering with this product. For more information on these products, visit Melissa’s The Food Shop. Competition closes 25 November 2011.
