The Inaugural Design Joburg

Come May 2017 the Sandton Convention Centre will be the go-to place for design aficionados. The best in local and international design brands will be showcased from 12-14 May at the inaugural Design Joburg.

From furniture and lighting, to kitchen and bath lines, materials, craft and objets d’art, the trade and public will have the chance to browse hundreds of brands and products for the home.

Decorating show, Rooms on View, returns to Design Joburg as a show-within-a-show and will be reinvigorated and supersized to present the latest in trending décor. Design Joburg takes inspiration from Room on View’s novel method of showcasing product via roomsets by featuring collaboration as an integral part of the show..

Two of South Africa’s leading design luminaries, Andrea Kleinloog and Megan Hesse of Anatomy Design and HK Studio will curate progressive products in creative displays at the event by pairing up architects and interior designers with prominent design brands to create exhibits and features that are unique, alluring and offer the visitor real take-home inspiration.

“We want to break the mould of a traditional expo and create a live Pinterest board,” says Andrea Kleinloog.

GASS Architecture Studios, Robert Sherwood and Michele Throssell are part of the lineup for the collaborative room set features, as are new talent including the likes of Kelly Adami and Thabisa Mjo.

The inaugural Design Joburg promises to be an energising and social event conceptualised in the spirit of design being by people, for people and about people.
