Ed’s Letter: Summer Starts Here

I honestly don’t think I have ever had so much fun putting a magazine together.

Marushka and I trying to blend in.

Together with Marushka Stipinovich, our art director, we went looking for inspiration in East Africa. We scoured the markets of Dar es Salaam, tasted the exotic food and listened to the drums of Zanzibar and swam in the warm Indian Ocean. We also got to stay in the most special hotels. Definitely my destination of choice. The best thing is how quick and easy it is to fly to Dar es Salaam from Joburg – the flight is less than three hours!

Back home, we’re getting ready for the end of the year and enjoying summer to its fullest. This issue is basically your survival guide for the season – we show you how to pull off the party of the year, with all the shortcuts, and if you’re short on skills, we introduce you to party tricksters who will do it all for you (even the dishes).

I want to take this opportunity to thank the DECO team for their enormous support and dedication to the magazine, and also you, our readers, for our success this year. See you next year with our big 100th issue in January.
