Emerald green: the colour of 2013

The announcement of emerald as Pantone Colour of the Year – 2013, inspired us to scope out at these heady infusions of green (see Laureen Rossouw’s top emerald pick in Ed’s Letter of our TRENDS issue, now on shelf).

This is a colour that grows on you. Emerald has a rich organic feel to it, bringing a mixture of tranquility and a sense of zest into a space. It also has a way of insinuating ideas relating to sustainability and the use of natural products – products that are both cool and kind, and that reduce your carbon footprint. That’s a pretty sweet deal, we’d say.

These flashes of green used in interiors add not only an alive feeling but also a lovely sense of whimsy.
