Kevin Cyr’s quirky camper vans

Kevin Cyr is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. We recently came across his solo exhibition at 941 Geary Gallery, and, man did it make us want to go camping. Ever since seeing Anna’s winter ‘Adventurer’ shoot, we have been reminiscing about family camping trips and days spent exploring the great outdoors.

Kevin Cyr was born in 1976 and grew up in the mill town of Madawaska, Maine.  After completing a BFA at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Cyr moved to the Big Apple and began creating work that focuses on the industrial landscape and vehicles that have defined America.

His exhibition, ‘Home In The Weeds’, comprises installations and 2D work made up of drawings, paintings, photographs and silk screens. The body of work is a personal reaction to the fragility of current society in light of the current economic climate and depression.  Cyr creates shelters and safe havens in the form of tents and quirky campers that attach to bikes.
