Prepare to go green with envy: Leslie Williamson might just have the best job ever. Travelling the globe, she photographs people and their lived-in spaces. Exposed to the world’s most creative minds, she is living the dream one click at a time.
A San Francisco local, Williamson has a knack for capturing a particular mood and feeling. Lingering in the pictures are the personalities of the people that inhabit each empty space. It comes across in the objects, corners and colours she portrays.
A twice published author, Williamson’s journey started with the desire to embark on a photographical project capturing the homes of her favourite designers. Her first book Handcrafted Modern, At Home with Midcentury Designers is a collection of designers and crafters homes based in the United States that was published in 2010 by Rizzoli Publications.
The book included the homes of renowned designers Eva Zeisel, Walter Gropius and JB Blunk which contributed to the success and inevitably her sequel, Modern Originals: At Home with European Midcentury Designers released in 2014. Traveling to 10 countries across Europe, the book is one of a kind and a keen perspective into some of the most creative minds around.
Next on the list is South America for Williamson, where an abundance of colour and culture awaits.
