Set your old fireplace alight

Deco stylist Hendrik Coetzee decided to paint a panel heater in the colours of fire – then used it to warm up his old marble fireplace.

“Unfortunately the fireplace in my new house was closed up back in the 1960’s. But one of the previous owners had placed a plug in it for some reason, so I decided an electrical fireplace would be the way to go this winter.

I got myself an Econo-Heat panel heater and made a flame colour-inspired selection from the Midas Envirolite 240 paint range, an eco cool VOC free kind of paint.”

Colours: (from the top) On Fire, Burnt Brick, Fortress, Fudge On My Wall, Golden, Sparkling, Loud Blue – all Midas Envirolite.

The fireplace: ‘Before the fire’
