Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair 2016

The Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair, launched in 2010 has over the years showcased an astounding myriad of local designers and artistry. Celebrating creativity and design, ELLE Magazine and ELLE Decoration have partnered with Sanlam Handmade Contemporary’ fair to debut the ELLE and ELLE Decoration South Africa Best Stand Design Competition.

This year, the Sanlam HMC Fair takes on a fresh look, transforming the Hyde Park Corner shopping center rooftop into a utopia of “Well Made in Africa” produce and craftsmanship.

Best Stand Design Competition

Every year visitors can expect outstanding quality of the exhibition stands, local design trade professionals, creatives, local foods and boutique wines. This year, in the spirit of celebrating the progressive, vibrant display of South African creativity, one exhibitor in each category of Best Food, Wine and Design Stand will win a full page, full color advert in either Elle or Elle Decoration magazine up to the value of R50 000. Judges will include ELLEe Editor Emilie Gambade, Sanlam HmC exhibitor manager Roberta Thatcher, Artlogic PR manager Nomthandazo Nkomo and Hyde Park Corner’s Marketing Manager Michael Wilson.

This not-to-be-missed experience takes place once a year only, and has become known as the go-to spot for discerning Joburgers.

Sanlam 2016 Featured Designer

Taking place from 14-16 October at the rooftop of Hyde Park Corner alongside ‘the prince of prints’, Chu Suwannapha, Sanlam’s 2016 Featured Designer will be transforming the venue into a magical setting. Visitors will be greeted with an astounding array of hues and textures, lighting, and inspired dining with a marriage of the rich African prints with vintage sophistication. Inspired by acclaimed African photographers Malick Sidibé and Seydou Keïta, Chu will bring forth his indigenous vision and contemporary mix to the Well Made in Africa themed event.

The fair promises to be a weekend of exploration of urban African visual complimented with the best food and wine, to set the style pace for the year to come. The Sanlam HmC Fair runs from 14-16 October 2016 on the rooftop at the Hyde Park Corner centre. Tickets are R90 online,  and R110 at the the venue. Kids 12 and under enter free.
