Spa Guide: Retreat Yourself at Babylonstoren’s Blissful Garden Spa

If you’re looking to escape the city in search of rejuvenation and restoration, we’re pleased to put forward a haven of beauty, tranquility and bliss in a garden spa at Babylonstoren.

It’s no secret that Babylonstoren is held in high regard when it comes to indulging in an outdoor experience – whether taking a walk through their inspiring garden, sitting down to long, lazy lunch at the Greenhouse or spoiling yourself to a multi-faceted meal experience at Babel there is nothing that disappoints at this world-renowned destination and the Garden Spa follows suit. As you walk past the rooms and make your way to the spa entrance, you know from the get go that you’re in for a treat. The soft-spoken staff send you into an instant state of relaxation as they usher you to the changing rooms so that you can kick off your clothes and wrap yourself in the softest robes you could ever imagine. Before heading through for your treatment of choice you are guided into the pre-treatment room where you are served freshly squeezed juice and an array of fresh fruit. It is also at this time that you are welcomed to select something to eat off the Spa Food menu should you wish to extend your experience a little longer.

Home to one of the only Hammam’s in the Western Cape, this spa treatment is an experience not to missed – be sure to bring your swimming costume as this is the attire required for this ritual. The Hammam can either be booked for up to two people so if you’re looking at giving someone special a gift that gives back, this should be first on the list. A Hammam, otherwise known as a Turkish Bath, is an ancient cleansing ritual that aids in relieving stress and muscle tension while at the same time increasing blood circulation as well as the metabolism and rids your skin of any toxins. The Hammam experience lasts an hour (or you can opt for a 30 minute Honey and Salt Scrub treatment) and during this time you are scrubbed, massaged and cleansed to the point that when the ritual is over you, quite literally, feel like a whole new you. The experience takes place in a heated room but should the steam be overwhelming there is a rain shower for you to cool off under just outside the marble room. Another one of  Babylonstoren’s signature treatments is the Bamboo Massage, although the word “massage” feels like an understatement when describing all that this experience includes. The massage starts off with a series of stretches and also includes heated bamboo sticks that are used to relax muscle tensions and attend to areas of stressed tissue. The full Bamboo Massage spans over 90 minutes of pure relaxation and enjoyment leaving your muscles and mind feeling completely at ease and refreshed.

If you happen to be at the Garden Spa during the summer months it is highly recommended that you bring your bathing suit along as a swim in the beautiful Babylonstoren “swimming pool” is a must. Originally used as a dam to collect all the borehole water the pool has since been converted into an ultra-chic yet rustic saltwater swimming experienc.

We’re pleased to report that during the month of September the Garden Spa is offering two enticing specials that are valid from Mondays – Thursdays throughout the month. Discover the specials as well as their other treatments here or refer to the spa treatment menu for the finer details.
