Spotted: Handcrafted wine bottle chandelier by Chris Weylandt

ELLE Decoration attended the launch of The Tasting Room and The Kitchen on Maison Estate, the Franschhoek family vineyard of designer furniture retailer Chris Weylandt. What caught our eye, and still has the DECO office talking, is an upcycled design by Chris himself (in the Tasting Room, above), a chandelier made entirely from old recycled wine bottles. Here’s more of our experience at Maison…

Incorporating the already successful Weylandts The Kitchen concept, The Tasting Room and The Kitchen at Maison offers vintages by winemaker Antwan Bondesio, a local menu by chef Arno Janse van Rensburg, and beautifully crafted Weylandts furniture. Chris and his family once used to live in the converted homestead (below), now home to The Kitchen.

Chris Weylandt, founder of Weylandts, says: ‘The Tasting Room and The Kitchen is an extension of our Good Living philosophy which is a celebration of relaxed living. It operates on the simple principal of producing great wine, delicious food and great design, a celebration of all that makes life good.’
