Their recipe for romance? Living separately, but together: He lives above in a loft-style, graffiti-walled batchelor pad, and she lives below, with her chandeliers and pretty things. Internationally-renowned interior designer Laurie Owen is well known for her earthy, sensuous use of natural materials, in a style she calls ‘romanic organic’. She’s recently wrought a change on her home in Kyalami, departing from her signature quiet tone, and opting instead for a more moody, dramatic palette of greys, charcoals and silvers. We’re sure you’ll love the story on pages 98 -105 of Issue 64, and here are some of the out-takes we have to share.

Marc Shoul’s Flatlands

Photographer Marc Shoul does a lot of work with us at ELLE DECORATION SA, but that’s not the only reason why we have him on our blog today. His exhibition, Flatlands, has just opened at the AVA in Cape Town , showing wonderful images of the energy, excitement and madness of Johannesburg’s inner city.
