Aesop is an Australian botanicals company with serious attitude. I originally came across their quirky black & white branded cosmetic bottles on a walk along Paddington’s Oxford Street. The store (designed by local architect Sean Godsell), has a really restrained, raw feel, unlike any other cosmetic interior I’ve seen. This probably has a lot to do [...] The Casamento studio, already well-known for its handcrafted reinvention of vintage furniture, has taken the next exciting step in its evolution, opening a showroom at the Old Biscuit Mill, called Kelekt. Definitely worth a browse next time you’re visiting Woodstock. I first saw the work of Cape Town silversmith Nic Wells Bladen on the finger of a friend. Before their wedding, she and her husband-to-be had gone walking with Bladen, where they’d picked seasonal grasses and twisted rings from them. These ephemeral constructions were then cast in silver, creating the most lovely, delicate wedding rings [...] The San Francisco-based AphroChic blog has been around since 2007, and last year, the author Jeanine Hays launched the AphroChic website and online shop. Aphrochic is all about modern soulful style, where high-end design and ethnic culture synthesise to create a stylish and individual look.
