Returning for the third time, Soweto residents will be transforming their neighbourhood into a street celebration for the Makhelwane Festival 2017. The festival will be held in Poka Street in Soweto, Johannesburg, from 15 to 17 December 2017.
The three-day event will start with the opening night at Lebo’s Soweto Backpackers, and will feature a night market and camping. The main event will take place on the Saturday and Sunday, and will include fashion, exhibitions, food, music and cooking classes, both in residents’ yards and on the street outside.
There’s no cooler festival than the Makhelwane, with it’s pop-up, guerilla vibes that promote young and upcoming designers and artists.
Tickets cost R150 per day for Saturday and Sunday, R250 for a weekend pass and R350 for a VIP weekend pass and are available from Webtickets.
