Dané Erwee from Okasie gives us his best tips for fun floral arrangements for your festive table. Using foraging as inspiration, these looks are easy to replicate and relatively inexpensive, so you’ll be able to grab your secateurs and hit the garden!
Use wooden boards and copper or wooden cake stands. Use anything sprouting or shooting from the veggie patch or larder; for example, shooting red onions, or take a chunk of moss and soil from your garden.
Take a leaf out of Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, and emphasise the simple beauty of blossoms and greenery. Any type of branch will do for this look: Japanese maple, Prunus nigra or something with blossoms. Choose containers with jewel tones and reflective surfaces. A metallic sheen has a luxe feel.
A floral arrangement with edibles becomes an extension of your table settings. Pick playful containers, perhaps something metallic. Use a variety of edibles, such as green pineapples, ginger root, flowering granadilla, a trailing vine, hydrangea, pomegranates, lemons and limes.
