Trends Issue: what makes life beautiful now

What better way to start the year than with a fresh eye: our Trends Issue – showcasing stunning homes from all over the world and everything you need to know about the looks to get in 2013 – is out this week. Our cover shot features a Paola Navone conversion in Italy – from factory to loft apartment. What a place.

Read DECO’s trend forecast for 2013, covering off the top 16 deas and aesthetic direction of trends on the global A-list now. We’re completely taken with the gradient trend, bicycles, tents, things made of paper and rope and the exquisite appeal of mohair.

This is the home of Beijing furniture designer Gu Qi, who has created a home and workspace that combines city living with an airy, outdoor approach. Issue 88 also goes to a townhouse in Tshwane, and visits two homes in Italy – one being the living headquarters of two designers for Anthropologie.

We open our little black book to give you ideas on what to buy and where to shop in Beijing – and then show you a proper Chinese feast that’s disarmingly simple and stunningly stylish.

Our Trends Issue is also the bearer of great ideas for updating your kitchen with colours and looks that are easy to pull off and a pleasure to live with. DECO|FOCUS shows how, with a little attention to detail, you can have yours hot and happening.

Win Plantation Shutters to the value of R32 000 and get your place feeling super organised. The must-do competition of 2013.

  • My opinion re the trends issue…my first thoughts “Has everyone lost the plot”? The chairs in every single pic look so uncomfortable, the rooms lack warmth, these are houses not homes and lack character and personality. These are show rooms yes but how are people actually expected to live comfortably in these and be real with themselves…

    • Thank you for your comment, and we are sorry that you feel this way! We try to show a mix of houses, but will bear your thoughts in mind!
