At Woodbender, crafting beautiful chairs is their specialty.  And nowhere is this more evident than in the restaurant industry, where they’ve been manufacturing chairs for the last 28 years.

In fact, one of the very first restaurants they furnished, Mariner’s Wharf in Hout Bay, is still using Woodbender chairs to this day. That’s because they have a unique process of steaming and bending the wood, preserving the grain of the timber and making the chairs incredibly durable and suitable for high traffic use.

Many Woodbender dining chairs also have detachable seats so they can be removed, and then replaced or reupholstered. They supply to a wide variety of restaurants, so whether you’re savouring a fine dining meal or sampling a relaxed bistro lunch – there’s a high chance you’ve enjoyed it while sitting on a Woodbender chair.  Here are some well-known restaurants that love Woodbender chairs:

1. Benguela: Combining Different Styles

Benguela is an exquisite fine dining restaurant in Somerset West. They wanted something particularly unique for their upmarket setting, so Woodbender worked with them to choose from over 60 chair designs. As you can see from the images, the different styles of chairs they chose all work together beautifully, complementing one another.

2. Jonkershuis: A Timeless Look

Situated in an old Cape Dutch building in Groot Constantia, Jonkershuis oozes relaxed ambience in a very contemporary style. They love Woodbender chairs because they’re timeless and don’t date, while their classic silhouettes make them suitable for a variety of interior spaces.

3. La Rosa: Bold Colour Combinations

All Woodbender furniture is available in one of 15 standard timber finishes, as well as different fabrics. For an extra cost, you can choose a customised colour as well.  La Rosa restaurant in Johannesburg selected the natural oak timber finish and chose to complement it with chocolate brown fabric and bright pops of colour.

4. Mugg & Bean: Design Collaboration

Woodbender has supplied to Mugg & Bean since their very first store opened. This year they worked closely with the Famous Brands designers to develop three brand new styles for exclusive use in their stores, custom finishing them with their own timber finish and M&B fabric in shades of grey.

5. Nando’s: Children’s Diners

Woodbender have supplied dining chairs to Nando’s over the years, but recently they’ve shown particular interest in the Classic Toddler’s Diner. With its unique and quirky look, this chair is both functional and practical. The ring on the base makes it difficult to knock over, while the top ring slopes downwards so that the chair can be pushed up to the tabletop. This means that children can feel part of the family at the main table, just as they should be.

It’s clear that restaurants love Woodbender chairs because they offer eye-catching style, the ability to customise them and extreme functionality and durability.
