A collaboration between Design Indaba and the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC), has brought to fruition the We Are Africa Exhibition, held in honour of Africa Month. The event unites veteran and upcoming artists, through a display of their latest masterpieces, in traditional and digital formats.
Exercising the power of design, to shape Africa into a region of harmonious nations, is the overarching concept on which the exhibition is based. The aptly named 2016 theme, “There Shall be Peace and Friendship”, is the ideal reflection of this concept.

The exhibition places a spotlight on the crème de la crème of Design Indaba’s Africa.Now. series, a project that unveils headhunted designers from across the continent. Attention is also drawn to past Emerging Creatives, members of Africa’s youth who excelled in their craft in a particular year, and who are supported by Design Indaba and the DAC to nurture their artistic enterprises.

The work of a variety of Emerging Creatives from the year gone by will be on show, along with that of several recognised designers. Thabo Makhetha, Catherine Ash and Issa Diabate are firm favourites, to name but a few.
