In the mood to meet someone rad? Even better, to see what their home looks like? We spent the afternoon with Anthea Poulos; strategist, youth culture specialist and director at brand consultancy The Bread, but most importantly lover of all things random and collector of everything.
Anthea describes her home as looking a bit like a gift shop; it’s full of collections of things from all the places she’s visited and the people she’s met. Graphic, fresh and jovial with a distinctly African edge, this gal and her house should be on your radar.
Best thing about living in Joburg?
The massive and bizarre array of people, and watching it grow. We’re figuring ourselves out which means everyday something new and awesome happens.
What makes a house a home?
The small things- the flowers, the little toys that you love, the stuff you bring in with stories… once the big furniture purchases are complete.
What is your favourite space in the house?
Definitely my bedroom, it’s the calmest. The colours relax me and most importantly- it gives me the space to clear my head.
Make your home about you, don’t worry about trends or what people consider right or wrong. Do what feels right. Make it so that every time you walk in the front door- you smile.
If you didn’t live here, where would you be?
Definitely New York!
What’s playing on your iPod?
At the moment Kaytranada & Childish Gambino.
What you watching?
Orange is the New Black and The Americans
