This week on #askDECO, we’re giving you the chance to put your interiors questions to furniture designer and entrepreneur, Christoph Karl – co-founder and managing director of Guideline MNF. We’ll be chatting to him live, over on Twitter this Thursday 12-1pm.
Growing up in a family of Bauhaus architects and being a German Master Craftsman has had a strong influence on the design, quality and manufacturing method of Christoph’s products. With 20 years’ industry experience under his belt, we’re really excited to learn his tricks of the trade.
Through the natural evolution of master craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, Christoph and his team create the highest quality pieces using a level of precision that is unquestionably superior – and have kitted out some of the world’s leading entertaining spaces, from Camps Bay’s UMI to the Sohohouse group.
How does he do it?
Through 3D computer engineering programs, designs are rendered into a working program that is fed into CNC machinery where components are shaped with maximum accuracy and minimal waste. This conforms to the highest international standards still using classic joinery methods such as “mortise and tenon” joints.
Employing tried and tested methods in furniture manufacturing but also continuously researching and implementing new technology, Guideline MNF is capable of handling any task at hand in-house, employing the skills of a committed design team as well as a hand-picked group of skilled craftsmen.
This results in classic contemporary furniture pieces that resonate tradition and clean-lined modernism.
We can’t wait to hear Christoph’s tips on bringing cutting-edge design into your home. What will YOU ask him?
