Ever wondered what it’s like ‘backstage’ at one of DECO’s inspiration shoots? We’ll show you. Watch this video, shot by the talented Charl du Preez, to see what went down at the à la mode shoot amidst the glitz and glamour of our brand new Fashion Issue.
The concept behind our new à la mode Fashion Issue shoot was a seductive mix of provocative colours, tempting textures and alluring finishes. We asked a few of the key players what set this shoot apart from all the rest…
I loved how everyone involved in the shoot added such a valuable and unique element; there was synchronicity in beautiful chaos.
…explains Ilana Swanepoel, DECO’s talented decor stylist.
We usually shoot ‘fashion’, which entails a focus specifically on clothing. Often the art direction and set dressing etc. is neglected. To work with a team and a title whose main agenda is ‘the beautiful set’, was an absolute treat. We not only had a phenomenal model and great garments, but a veritable playground in which to place them.
…explain the talented gentlemen from Kope | Figgins.
ELLE Decoration Editor Bielle Bellingham summed up our final product:
The whole point of the feature was to be fiercely glamorous, fearless and fun. We wanted to explore and embrace a fashion-infused design attitude; a maximalist approach that is daring, unexpected, cheeky and luxurious. I think you’ll agree that it definitely different to the usual decor shoot!
