Have reminisces of your sweet but way-too-short holiday left you longing for another vacation? The Bedroom Shop has a few unbeatable tips on how to recreate that holiday feeling at home…

Most holidays are relaxing since the room or apartment, is free of clutter and technology is limited to the basics.  Keeping this in mind, begin with decluttering your space by removing unnecessary piles of paper or books, clear counter space and most importantly remove all forms of technology from your bedroom.

Secondly, assign dedicated areas for work, play and lounging around. Create your working or reading area outside of your sleeping space, combining the two will make switch to sleep mode difficult. Areas with optimum natural lighting are best for your home office of lounging/reading room; position your desk under the window, taking advantage of the natural light. Ensure the lighting in the area is adequate and add a desk lamp.

Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, free from technology with low soft light to create the right ambiance. Dedicating specific areas according to use will help minimise cortisol levels; helping you to recreate that relaxed holiday feeling.

Few things can compare to a 5 star luxury and it is a well-known fact that the quality of your sleep is in direct proportion to your mood and overall wellbeing. If you woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed while you were on holiday but find yourself stumbling out of bed like a grumpy red-eyed dragon… it’s time to have a look at your bed!

• Your mattress should be supportive yet plush; a too firm or too plush mattress will leave you aching. We recommend a mattress that you can turn for every night use; this ensures longevity and you avoid sinking in over time. If your mattress is too hard, try adding a topper to create that cloud like comfort.

• Puffy pillows and comfy inners are the key to blissful slumbers. We recommend our down alternative duvet inners and pillows; these have the same puffy comfort of down bedding without any of the cons – great for those who suffer from allergies.

• For opulent five star luxury, invest in high thread count linen in pure cotton.  For a silky soft feel opt Egyptian cotton sheets; for an extra luxurious feel include flat sheet and don with a matching duvet cover set.
