Our decor editor Anna Loubser, intern Anna Raimondo and photographer Antonia Steyn headed into the woods at Clara Anna Fontein Private Game Reserve and Country Lodge last month to shoot our inspirational winter story, ‘The Adventurers’. The location was perfect for a rustic, camping-inspired feature on warm tartans, leather, plaid and woven wool.
Clara Anna Fontein is a private game reserve and country lodge in Durbanville, just 20 minutes outside of Cape Town. It’s home to over 11 species of wild animals – including blue wildebeest, zebra, springbok, ostrich, bontebok and eland – all roaming freely in the indigenous bushveld.
Tamma Basson from Clara Anna Fontein was kind enough to lend us her horses for the shoot, and – draped in tartan with colourful beads hanging from their necks – they certainly stole the show.
The leather waistcoat above right is by Chloe Townsend from Missibaba.
MP Rug’s ‘Tree-Trunk’ Tibetan rug blended right in on the leaf-strewn forest floor.
We even got Chloe Townsend from Missibaba to make up a specially designed leather holster for our Le Creuset whistling kettle – how cool is that? And we’re giving it away to one lucky reader! Turn to page 68 for details on how to enter.
