Powerful portraits rarely get forgotten, and it is Chris Denovan who proves this point. The Cape Town born artist has made quite a name for himself locally, and DECO is waiting patiently for his latest exhibition in September, at StateoftheART gallery.

Describing his process as “blurring the lines between abstraction and realism”, Chris’ portraits are recognisable and memorable. His latest oils on canvas stretch 130cm x 130cm and captivate you into figuring out the story behind the eyes you are gazing into. That is the very essence of portraiture: a glimpse into the lives of others, and the perfect opportunity to stare appropriately.

Chris’ latest exhibition showcases a powerful new series of portraiture. From left: Portrait of Londi, Portrait of Sheena and Portrait of Grace

We’ll inevitably be sending you a reminder closer to the time, but to be safe, pencil it into your September schedule now. Obsessed with Ourselves by Chris Denovan will run from Thursday 3 September until Saturday the 19 September at the StateoftheART gallery in Cape Town.
