Jeanne Gaigher at SMITH Studio
Jeanne Gaigher at SMITH Studio | The artist's latest exhibition, 'Club', is on now at the Cape Town gallery.

SMITH Studio presents ‘Club’, an exhibition by Jeanne Gaigher. Undeniably captivating, her work lends itself to a timelessness that draws you in and transports you into a moment someone else is having. ELLE Decoration went along to the opening to check it out.

With titles like Song On Repeat, Swamp and Humid Night, the moody tone that Jeanne Gaigher artfully creates filters through all aspects of her work, offering DECO an uplifting experience at her SMITH Studio opening.

The artist’s distinctive aesthetic comes from her interesting use of colour and loose brush strokes. Embracing scrim as a medium, the pieces work towards creating the dreamlike state of the exhibition as a whole. Meticulously curated, the collection of curated works comes together in a softly contrasting harmony.

Jeanne extracted the notion of an infinite series of time from the writer, Jorge Luis Borge to partly inspire her latest work. Together with her travels to the East and America, Club provides a meeting place of culture and conversation.

Represented by SMITH at the 2015 FNB Joburg Art Fair, Jeanne’s career is now on the fast track. We at DECO are honoured to be the first publication to feature Jeanne’s work; check out our behind the scenes feature on styling the Online page of our Winter Issue.
