We love it when our favourite creative things come together. Tonight at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, our go-to creative hub online Between 10and5 has curated photography exhibition Unordinary in partnership with camera specialists Orms – marking the first ever Good Night Market, a vibrant new celebratory monthly night at the V&A’s Watershed.

At DECO we’re also passionate about seeking out new creative talent and Unordinary promises to showcase the photographic skills of both established and new creatives ‘with new perspectives whose work presents the world in an unconventional way’. Right up our street.
Sean Wilson’s image of a deserted playground with a swingset missing its essential seats (above) has been selected as the poster child for the 10and5 event’s promotion and we’re intrigued. Clearly set to showcase quite ordinary subject matter in very ordinary ways, the exhibition is full of unusual promise – aiming to transform ‘scenes of the everyday… while remaining intrinsically South African.’

We’re firm believers in exploring perspective – how seemingly mundane subjets can be viewed quite differently by examining a different angle or reappraising; keeping a keen eye for what we might have missed. Whilst at DECO we love the exquisite, we also have plenty of time for the everyday and, when seen through the lens of our country’s top photographers, it can only become even more inspiring..

With Orms Print Room & Framing taking care of all the printing and framing for the exhibition, curated by the keen eye of those finger-on-the-pulse creative folks at 10and5, we can’t wait to see what’s in store.
