Decorative and Fine Arts Auction

Andy Warhol’s Mick Jagger silkscreen – signed by Warhol and Jagger, and valued at R300 000 to R350 000 – headlines the auction on 4 and 5 June. Other highlights include numerous mid-century design classics, as well as a Philippe Starck dining room table-and-chairs set and a painting by Walter Battiss.

Behind the Ochre Curtain by Craig Muller

The UJ Arts Centre opens Craig Muller’s ‘Behind the Ochre Curtain’ exhibition this week. In this collection the artist explores historic and mythological concepts, working in a two-dimensional format as opposed to his signature wood and metal sculptures.

Irene Village Market

Venue: Smuts House Museum, Smuts Avenue, Irene (Gauteng)

Spend a day on the slopes of Smuts Hill whilst browsing through over 300 arts and crafts stalls, the market’s antiques & collectables section as well as the new deli and food stalls. The market is held on the second and last Saturday of every month and also offers a children’s entertainment area and a tea garden.
