With the cooler weather slowly starting to set in, we’re officially on the hunt for comfort food recipes! We found this quick and delicious recipe for homemade Nutella on one of our latest blog obsessions – The Chocolate Standard.
This version of Nutella spread is much lower in sugar than the spread you’ll find in stores and it’s suitable for vegans or those who suffer from dairy allergies, plus it’s only about a 15 minute job!
- 2 cups raw hazelnuts
- 1 1/2 tbsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 75ml xylitol, or sugar, or pure maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
- optional: 2 tsp oil (for extra smoothness)
Roast the hazelnuts for 6-8 minutes at 200 degrees. Rub them together in a paper towel to get the skins off. Next, blend the nuts until they’ve turned to butter, then add all other ingredients and blend for a while until it’s smooth like Nutella!
