As the year rushes by without any signs of pausing, the thought of the upcoming long weekends is what many are holding onto. This week, local artist Andrew Cooper got the DECO team talking about their local getaways.
As motivation to push through the working week, something to look forward to or as a time to make new memories… where will you be driving off to in the next few weeks?
If you have ever been to the shores of Betty’s Bay, the rolling hills of Greyton, or the cool still waters of Langebaan, these images will surely pull you back there. Cooper captures the many diverse South African landscapes and seascapes that surround and inspire us daily.

It is no wonder that some of these nostalgic, beautiful paintings have travelled the globe to the Smithfield Gallery in London and the International Art Expo in New York City. Cooper captures a realism and intimacy that is so comforting to the viewer, one can only imagine the effect they would have on the bustling, locals of London and New York.

Self-taught and based in Cape Town, it is a pleasure to view everyday life in its most natural form. While waiting for his solo exhibition later in the year, you can enjoy Cooper’s work at The Red Gallery in Tokai, Cape Town.
