This weekend DECO got their hands on the beautifully compiled architectural design book from Daffonchio and Associates Architects.
Daffonchio and Associates was established in 1996 by Enrico Daffonchio, an Italian architect currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The firm is active in the African and European architecture industry and recently opened offices in Milan and Cape Town. The Cape Town office, aptly named eKapa, opened in 2015.
Over the years, the firm has produced many award winning buildings and their work has been recognised and published on various local and international platforms.
On the back of a highly successful exhibition at the Venice Biennale late last year, Daffonchio and Associates Architects were excited to be part of this year’s Design Indaba where they launched their new book and showcased some of the work that the firm has completed over the past few years.
The Daffonchio book showcases a few carefully selected projects that embody the firm’s principles and form a narrative around sustainable design, the approach to heritage and the interplay between tradition and innovation, which shapes all aspects of the firm’s design.
Another exciting development is the unveiling of ZNAKE, a new addition to the existing product design range of the company. The first Prototype of ZNAKE is crafted out of highly polished hollow stainless steel sections and houses a 3W dimmable LED strip light that has been recessed into the bottom of the final section. The light has a very playful and almost animated character but there is an unmistakable simplicity and elegance in the form, construction and use of materials.
