Autumn 1998 – No. 1
Our first favourite cover could be nothing other than the very first issue of Elle Decoration South Africa. The cheerful orange cover promised what we strive to deliver on every day – easy modern living in South Africa.

We giggled at these quirky cover lines, especially “Living with Children without Losing Your Style” and “Housework Sucks: Our Pick of Sexy Vacuum Cleaners.”

We’re still crushing on this Hollywood Hills house designed by architect Brian Murphy featuring a fireplace by Palazzetti and steel table by Jean Nouvel.
Autumn 2002 – No. 22
We love eclectic houses, and this home is one that still stands out because of the owner’s obsession for collecting. This incredible cover is a tantalising teaser of the over-the-top home inside.
Winter 2003 – No. 27
Oh the places you’ll go with Elle Decoration! This fabulous space is in a straw-bale house in Noordhoek and features the owner’s dressmaking patterns and a piece of woven Italian fabric as a headboard.

We just love that the focal point of this interior is the lush garden outside.

This small space really does pack a punch.
Summer 2005/2006 – No. 40
We’re still saying “yes please!” to this deck overlooking Robberg beach in Plettenberg Bay.

Perhaps the biggest creative departure from the usual home and decor shots, but this cover beautifully captures the magic of spring.
August/September 2014 – No. 97
With fashion at the heart of the ELLE brand, we love to dress up spaces as often as a fashionista during fashion week.
February/March 2015 – 100th Issue
Another momentous milestone along the way.
