Attending Africa’s leading international art fair is always a priority – but this year we didn’t just want to attend The Cape Town Art Fair – we wanted to squeeze every bit of inspiration and information we could get our hands on.
Welcoming in the countries top interior designers, DECO joined forces with Home Fabrics to host a delectable breakfast at Giulio’s café. This was followed by a VIP guided tour of the Fair, with head curator Andrew Lambrecht.
The aim is to reconsider the relationships of art fairs, cultural institutions and inter-continental exchange; whilst focussing on Africa’s place in the global conversation around contemporary art production.
Showcasing contemporary art from Africa and around the world, this was the fourth edition of the Fair and it is safe to say that the event was astoundingly executed – a huge success and by far the best of the lot.
Sponsored by Sovereign, the Cape Town Art Fair was held at CTICC and attracted 58 exhibitors, top international and local galleries, a special project section and a talks programme with renowned industry specialists.
The Fair was a vast, visual feast that left everyone proud of how well South African artists stood their ground next to such prominent international galleries. Same time next year? For sure.
