Restaurateur and hotelier Paul Kovensky has opened a new addition to his prestigious string of restaurants and bars. After hearing about the chic interior, cocktails and more-ish tapas menu we sent Heidi van Bergen to see what all the fuss was about. Introducing Dalliance…
Dalliance is located in the the V&A Waterfront, with a view overlooking the harbour. Sipping sparkling French Mojito’s and gazing out over the ocean, only to see a pod of dolphins passing by, is a spectacular way to end a busy day.
The urban eatery offers a tapas style dining experience and boasts an impressive selection of perfectly pretty cocktails and wines. We were caught ooh-ing and aah-ing our way through the menu, admittedly very indecisive on what to start with, but the knowledgeable staff came to the rescue. We settled on the oysters, followed by tender seared tuna and harissa dip (the confirmed favourite of the night), and the beef short rib, which provided a magic fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-your-mouth moment.
As a warning, don’t be fooled by typical tapas-sized dishes. Selecting about three dishes will leave you satisfied with room for dessert – a big mistake we made! You will definitely want to be able to contemplate dessert as the cheesecake is apparently one of the best in Cape Town – we are saving space for next time.
Dalliance is tastefully decorated and the staff are all attentive and well informed, making a visit there all the more special. We’ll most certainly be returning to sample the rest of the menu.
