What a treat to have dinner with world-renowned Food Network chef Reza Mahammad. On 31 May, Reza treated ELLE DECO readers to an intimate cooking demonstration, preparing a three-course meal using Le Creuset cookware. The warm and inviting kitchen of the Explorers Club in Franschoek added to the perfect atmosphere. Recipes were from his new book, Reza’s Indian Spice.

First up, we enjoyed delicious sweet potato cakes with chilli, tomato and ginger salsa. Next was a Panchmela dahl served with coriander chicken (Murgh Nilgiri) and perfectly cooked coconut rice – we all learnt a few tips here. To round it off, we were served beetroot samoosas with vanilla ice cream and cardamom – yum.

Reza’s humour is infectious. It went down so well with the two exquisite wines on the table – a beautifully blended Chamonix Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2010 and Pinot Noir Reserve 2010. Both were an excellent pairing with Reza’s amazing food.

Readers walked off with bulging Le Creuset goodie bags including a large frying pan with lid and a tea set … what great gifts for the two readers who were celebrating their birthdays!
