Tekkie Tax has become a household name over the past 5 years. International Tekkie Tax Day is celebrated today, Friday, 25 May 2018 and ELLE Deco is proud to be apart of this incredible initiative.
Tekkie Tax is fast becoming SA’s most significant fundraising campaign for more than 270 local welfare organisations. The campaign is fun and innovative, unique and successful. The campaign started in 2013 when a number of South Africa’s biggest and most accountable welfare organizations joined forces under one umbrella to help local welfare organizations find a sustainable source of income. Since its inception, Tekkie Tax has already raised more than R30million for participating NPOs. There are currently 11 National Beneficiaries and they represent more than a 1 000 local non-profit organisations. They are: Epilepsy SA, SAVF, various Child Welfare organisations, SOS Children’s Villages, Special Olympics SA, CANSA, Imisebeyelanga Services, VVA, NG Welfare, and RoleModels Foundation.
We took our bright laces with us as we sourced props for an upcoming shoot, and we think they fit right into our aesthetic. Take a look for yourself.
Tekkie Tax aims to put the “fun” back into fundraising and it’s so easy to participate in the 2018 campaign if you haven’t already. The stickers (for a donation of R10 each) and the Tekkie Tax shoelaces (R35 per pair) are available at all ToysRUs/BabiesRUs nationwide. There are also more than 270 participating non-profit organizations selling these items. You can also contact Tekkie Tax directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or 012 663 8181.
