Did you think the prestigious Loerie awards were a celebration of the advertising world? Think again. Interior designers, architects and urban planners can win themselves a Loerie by entering the Architecture Interior & Industrial Design category. DECO has the details.

No. The Loeries are not just awards, in fact they’re the premier creative industry awards in Africa and the Middle East aimed at celebrating and promoting creativity excellence and innovation. Beyond the advertising world, the Loeries has entry categories that present a great opportunity for designers and creatives playing in the three dimensional & environmental design space to showcase their most inspired and original projects.

Loeries Interior category

That means, interior designers (and architects) can submit both new projects and temporary structures such as cafes, clubs, hotels to displays, exhibition & trade stands, pop-up stores, upgrades and new additions to an existing structure or brand.

Industrial & Packaging designers can only enter work that has been specifically created with the intention to enhance brand equity.  For more details on these categories please see Communication Design.

Previously, Boogertman & Partners Architects won a Bronze Loerie in the Architecture category for The Disappearing Clubhouse and ANTI EST #UNLEARN was also awarded a Bronze Loerie in Interior Design & Temporary Structures category.

In an exciting new move of city and month, Loeries® Creative Week™ will take place in Durban between 10 – 16 August at the Durban ICC and along the Durban beach front. Judging will take place and finalists will also be announced during this inspiring week of events. Ticket packages and accommodation bookings are available from loeries.com.

Durban is ideal to host Creative Week because of its all-year-round warm climate and concentration of amenities. The convenience of location and affordability will make it easier for agencies based in Johannesburg and Cape Town to attend, while the Durban ICC offers increased seating and is also close to the beach front.   • The entry deadline is Sunday 31st May 2015

  • The DStv Seminar of Creativity will take place on Friday 14 August
  • The awards ceremonies will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August
