The Fringe arts is situated in the heart of cool, that is Kloof Street in Cape Town. They decided that they did not want to be simply just an art gallery or a design shop so combined the two concepts in a way that strengthened both aspects. All pretentious notions associated with a gallery are removed and one feels free to browse art and design in a comfortable and relaxed space. Focusing on both established and emerging local and international artists they organise creative projects ranging from retail to events aiming to support local industries as well as contribute to a sustainable creative market.
Their latest window exhibition “For Sale: A House’ is an initiative by Jasper & George Furniture and Decor. The exhibition showcases a mini designer Cape Dutch house built to the scale of 1:10. One very trendy doll house. Made of recycled materials the house is filled with signature pieces from Jasper & George as well as pieces from other fellow creatives that helped furnish the house.
Like a real house, A house has been put on on Gumtree where one can request a viewing and interested buyers can place an offers by responding to the ad. Final transfer will take place on Monday 29 April. All proceeds will go to Khayelitsha based charity, Rosie’s Kitchen that feeds over 250 children on a daily basis.
