It’s official! Former ELLE cover star and friend of Maison Louis Vuitton, Gisele Bündchen will carry the Fifa trophy and its designer case into the pitch of the Maracana stadium on 13 July 2014, the evening of the FIFA World Cup Final.
A spokeswoman at Louis Vuitton commented:
“Epitomising the Brazilian woman and spreading her country’s colours all over the world, [Gisele] was a natural choice both for the Maison Louis Vuitton and FIFA.”
The mini trunk, commissioned in 2010 for when South Africa hosted the World Cup, continues Louis Vuitton’s long tradition of creating stylish travel cases for precious belongings. For 150 years the Asnières workshop has produced exquisite custom-made designs; from the foldout trunk-bed made for explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza to travel Africa, to a secretary trunk for 1000 cigars and a portable tea service for the Maharajah of Baroda.
Did you know? The luxury fashion house is no stranger to the sporting field. In fact Louis Vuitton is responsible for crafting the trunk that holds the world’s oldest sporting trophy, the famous silver ewer of the America’s Cup, which dates back to 1851.
