We’re huge fans of design duo Christopher Strong – but you probably know that already! Last Friday we let you in on a little secret – that their first store was about to open at 303 Long Street, Cape Town. As promised, here are the pictures of this beautiful store that opened its doors on Guy Fawkes!

We love: the clothes (of course); the location (in prime position on buzzing Long Street); the natural light and fresh, simple décor; the fresh proteas, geraniums and roses; the Chanel reference in the quilted white changing room…

We asked designer Olive du Plessis…

Tell us about the new space. We decided to keep the store open and light, providing a neutral backdrop for the collection. The shop fittings were made by furniture designer Liam Mooney (http://www.liammooney.co.za/) who also consulted on the interior.

We love the black-and-white picture in the store; it’s so beautiful. Where is it from? The picture is by photographer Ulrich Knoblauch and is from our last winter collection. It was actually a birthday gift from a friend but ended up in the shop and has inspired us to collect more strong beautiful editorial pictures (I want the shelves covered!).

What can we expect to see from Christopher Strong this summer? We are working with a lot of whites as well some bright colours and sheer fabrics. There is also a small swimwear collection in the making that will be available later this month. The shop will soon stock a small collection of shoes, bags and jewellery too!
