GUILD, Africa’s only international design fair, will be showing in Cape Town for the second time next year from 25 February to 1 March. More than just a fair for beautiful objects, GUILD Design Fair 2015 represents the coming together of dedicated, focused curators, designers and institutions who are striving to preserve and provoke exceptional, groundbreaking design.
GUILD explores the theme of ‘making’ at an elevated, collectible level. GUILD will bring together limited edition design, from celebrated global galleries and institutions, for the first time in Africa.
Commencing with a private viewing on 24 February for Absa Private Banking, the sponsors of this prestigious design fair, GUILD opens to the public from Wednesday 25 February and runs until Sunday 1 March at The Lookout, V&A Waterfront, where visitors will enter through a custom-designed pavilion by groundbreaking firm Antoni Associates.
This year the gallery store ARTISAN will be presented by Watershed, the V&A Waterfront’s new platform for the best of South African design and craft, and the Southern Guild Design Foundation Awards, responsible for revolutionising the local design industry, will be presented at GUILD too, making it the first time that this much-anticipated ceremony is held in Cape Town.
Guided tours by Fair Director Trevyn McGowan, a world-class talks’ programme, school tours and an evening schedule of special events will be offered to fair visitors, who will have the opportunity to enjoy a drink and meal on The Lookout deck pre- and post-fair viewing.
Exchange and collaboration are what GUILD prides itself on – a spirit of sharing, growth and excellence. Join us in sharing this pioneering experience.
