At Elle Decoration we love colour and what better way to celebrate it than with Holi Fest, otherwise known as The Festival of Colour. Capetonians can paint their town every colour imaginable as the festival makes its way to them on Saturday 2nd March at the Grand Parade.

The throwing of coloured powder is celebrated by Hindus commemorating the arrival of Spring and with it all the joy and new life it brings. While not exactly in keeping with our seasons in the southern hemisphere, the expression of freedom and joy certainly is. Said to be a time ‘of unadulterated mirth and joy’ the celebration will not only fill the air with clouds of color but will play host to a number of South Africa’s top DJs. Beginning at 12h00 every hour on the hour will see an explosion of color as the Grand Parade becomes Cape Town’s very own canvas.

Go dressed in white as the vibrant hues and energy will for sure consume you. And just in case you were wondering, the powders used are eco-friendly and safe – though getting them out of your hair and clothes might be another story.
