The ultimate in sophistication, this nineteenth-century apartment of architect Luis Laplace is featured in DECO’s latest #IdeasIssue, and is testament to his design aptitude and flair.
Home to Parisian architect Luis Laplace sits in le quartier de la Nouvelle Athènes, the cultural centre of nineteenth century Paris. With high, decorated ceilings, restored stuccos and expansive living spaces, Luis has mixed in present day contemporary with made-to-measure furnishings of Italian, French and Scandinavian modernism.
Our priority was to maintain the original character of the house without forsaking contemporaneousness.
Luis also showcases his own Laplace & Co range with tailor-made pieces for the home. In contrast the smaller private bedroom and office areas were given a strong use of colour on the walls and bold monochrome furnishings.
A carefully balanced mix of past and present is the leitmotiv of this home
His home reflects very much the passion in his work and is a showpiece for the Laplace Studio (in the same building on the ground floor). Laplace Studio covers architecture and interior decor, where every detail is overseen, as he did in his own home – with custom made furnishings and selected collector items for clients.
